FreeRider Review

FreeRider USA, located in Rancho Cucamonga, California, has over 25 years of experience building, innovating, and designing a variety of mobility aides. Their successes in engineering and quest for continual improvement are two of the reasons why they always come out on top.

FreeRider USA really focuses on adding value to the customer, by providing many choices in price and details, ranging from smaller, more compact models to deluxe scooters. Plus, their scooters are generally lighter and easier to handle than other powered wheelchairs. They fold up, small enough to fit into luggage, and can carry up to 250 pounds. The more deluxe scooter offers a bigger seat, up to 350 pounds weight capacity and a bigger battery. Both the standard and deluxe scooters come with spectacular amenities, including easy to use controls, front and back lights, blinkers, hand brakes and shock absorbers. Both the standard and deluxe models have over 30 hours of battery life and can zip around up to 9.5 mph.

FreeRider mobility scooters are a sleek and stylish way to maintain your independence.

FreeRider Luggie

Both of our most popular FreeRider scooters are from the Luggie series. The Luggie Classic folds quickly and easily. It weighs a total of 72 pounds including the battery (52 pounds without) and can hold up to 250 pounds. It has a top speed of 4 mph, a turning radius of 40” and can run up to 10 miles before needing a recharge.

It has a 12 AH SLA sealed battery, making it approved by not only the TSA but the FAA and the FDA. Safe for travel, you will be able to drive right up to the gate!*

The Luggie Classic has and adjustable tiller, a lightweight aluminum chassis and solid flat-free tires that won’t leave marks on your floor. Two front wheels set close together mean a tighter turning radius than that of a standard 4 wheel scooter, perfectly designed for navigating narrow hallways or aisles, or moving through airports or on cruises. There is even a convenient off-board dual voltage charger. So, let’s get traveling!

*There may be differing regulations for different airlines. Please check with your airline before heading out using your Luggie.

FreeRider Super Plus

A step up from the Luggie Classic is the Luggie Super Plus 4. While most 4 wheel mobility scooters have a turning radius around 55 inches, the Luggie Super Plus 4 comes in at a mere 36 inches. Based on feedback from customers, FreeRider installed Smart Turn technology in its deluxe model, which automatically slows the scooter down when making a turn. For instance, if you were to push your scooter “pedal-to-the-metal,” the unit will slow your speed when attempting to make a turn. FreeRider also extended the handlebars for better ergonomics and has redesigned the frame for extra durability. These safety features help prevent injury and provide more peace of mind.

But maybe you need an even more heavy-duty scooter than even the Luggie Super Plus? Look no further than the FreeRider Bariatric scooter.

FreeRider FR510

This is one substantial mobility device! The FreeRider FR510 can hold up to 500 pounds, drive 20 miles before needing a recharge and zips around at an amazing max speed of 8 mph. Two 33 AH batteries keep you going all day. It has a ground clearance of 3.43 inches, perfect for a little off-sidewalk roaming, on grass or any other slightly uneven surface. The tiller wraps around for easy control and you never have to worry about getting a flat tire. This model’s 12.5 inch wheels won’t puncture or tip over nor will they scuff up your floor.

Both front and rear shock absorbers add to the smooth ride, as does the extremely comfortable 20-inch (deep and wide) contoured seat. To light your way at night, the FR510 bariatric scooter has an incredible wide angle beam headlight that allows you to see everything that’s around you. It makes you especially visible to people and cars, extending your safety perimeter.

Adjustments can be made to the captain’s seat in height and 360-degree rotation. The padded armrests and headrest are also adjustable. Finally, the FR 510 F II includes a front storage basket and a state of the art microprocessor-based motor controller.
